Women's Basketball Earns First Win in Fosha Era
DETROIT – A total team effort helped the Community Christian College Women's basketball team win against Kirtland Community College on Wednesday, 43-30. The victory is the first in Evan Fosha's head coaching tenure, and snaps an 8-game losing streak.
DC3 (1-8) had two finish in double figures, led by a 12-point, thirteen-rebound effort from Aqierra Hinton. Dasia Croft backed her up with 11 points and 17 rebounds, 10 on the offensive glass.
Avenging a 14-point first-half deficit in their first matchup, the Lady Lions took a 20-11 lead on their home court at the end of the half. Hinton started things out, scoring 6 of the first 8 points. Karisma Matthews added four with her shifty athleticism in the paint.
Head Coach Evan Fosha continued to push the pace, as they finished with a 11-0 run through the final minutes of the third quarter. An electric Croft And-1 sparked even more momentum, as they led by 18 before the final period.
The game was out of reach at that point, as Hinton and Matthews scored to cap off the monumental victory.
The Community Christian College Women's basketball team will hit the road for two games next week. On Thursday, December 19th, they'll travel to Marian University Ancilla for a 5:30 game against the Chargers.
