Men's Basketball Opens Season at Prince George's Tournament

LARGO, MD — Community Christian College Men's Basketball tipped off its 2025-26 campaign this weekend with a two-game tournament slate at Novak Field House, taking on Prince George's Community College and College of Southern Maryland. The Lions battled through two competitive matchups, showing strong effort, interior toughness, and encouraging individual performances despite dropping both contests.

 

Game 1 — November 1, 2025

Prince George's CC 93, Community Christian 68

Community Christian opened the season with a fast-paced matchup against Prince George's CC. The Lions delivered a strong first half, entering the break tied 34-34 after consistent ball movement and interior scoring.

Prince George's found its rhythm from the perimeter in the second half, using 12 made three-pointers and a 59-point scoring surge to pull away late.

Solomon Parks — 18 points (9-13 FG), 2 rebounds

Nathan Stacy — 12 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists

Kenneth Watson — 11 points off the bench (2-2 3PT)

Gabriel Buttram — 4 points, 3 steals, 1 block

The Lions controlled the glass for long stretches and finished with 44 total rebounds, but 27 turnovers proved to be the difference.

 

Game 2 — November 2, 2025

College of Southern Maryland 95, Community Christian 79

The Lions returned to action the next afternoon and delivered a strong offensive performance, going into halftime down just one (42-41) after an efficient scoring effort and aggressive rebounding presence.

Despite another productive outing on the glass — winning the rebounding battle 51-47 — Southern Maryland capitalized at the free-throw line and generated late stops to seal the win.

Nathan Stacy — 12 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists

Terrance Hicks — 11 points, 4 assists, 3 steals

Gabriel Buttram — 11 points (2-2 3PT)

TaiQuan Owens — 12 rebounds

Community Christian pulled down 15 offensive rebounds in the effort and saw multiple contributors step up across the rotation.

 

Community Christian returns to action on Wednesday at home against Kirtland Community College. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm.
