Lions Stifle the Bobcats in Close Game
DETROIT – The cold outside couldn't stop the action from heating up inside The Dearborn Academy as the Community Christian College Men's Basketball team defeated Bryant & Stratton (OH), 87-85.
Three of five starters scored in double figures, with Trey West leading the way off the bench with 27 points. Shauntez Cain played excellent in the first half, scoring 9 of his 11 points and pulling down 8 rebounds throughout the evening.
West capped off his 13th point of the evening going into the 2nd half with a corner three from outside. The Bobcats wouldn't go away, climbing back to make it a 4-point lead for DC3 at halftime.
Towards the end of the game, tied at 85 apiece, DaiQuan Coach drove through the lane with seconds to go, and made a tough layup through contact to take a 2-point lead with 6 seconds left. After a timeout, a driving layup from the Bobcats would rim out, and solidify the win in the closest game of the season at home for DC3.
Terrence Partridge scored 20 points, shooting 50% from outside while adding 5 assists. Coach finished with 11 points, 2 assists, and 4 steals, while Willie Williams finished with 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. Community Christian shot 47% from the floor, and doubled their typical assist total with 23.
The Lions improved to 11-7, and will return to action on Monday, January 27th, against Owens in Toledo, tip off is scheduled for 5pm.
