Comeback Bid Falls Short at Montcalm

SIDNEY -- The Community Christian College Men's Basketball team was upended on the road by Montcalm on Saturday afternoon, 66-64. The Lions slipped to 7-4 on the season.

Derald Blackmon had 16 points and fourteen rebounds, shooting 7-for-18 from the floor and 2-for-9 from the line. Terrence Partridge added 17 points off the bench, getting to the line six times, making six.

Montcalm (5-5) built a 12-point lead over the first 14 minutes of action, and the Lions spent the rest of the half battling back.  They whittled the deficit down to as small as one, trailing at the break, 35-34.

The second-half was back and forth, as DC3 struggled to gain a legitimate advantage for the rest of the afternoon. After Chandler Burgess-Taylor knocked a 3 down to go up three with 3 minuts to go, the Lions would give up free throws and a fastbreak layup at the other end to lose their first one-possession game of the season.

Community Christian returns to action this Monday on the road at Spring Arbor to play their JV squad. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30pm.
