Lions Basketball Takes Care of Business in Alpena
ALPENA - The Community Christian College Men's basketball team had three players in double figures, including a 19-point output by DaiQuan Coach, en route to a 79-67 victory over Alpena CC on Saturday. DC3 has now won their last 4 games.
DC3 improves to 4-1 on the season, while Alpena falls to 1-2.
It was neck and neck for the first 5 minutes of play until the Lions jumped out to an 12-2 run fueled by jump shots from Terrence Partridge. Solomon Parks and Yahmarion Cole would continue to keep their 8-point lead with points of their own.
There was a small period of no scoring by either side, until Coach and Chandler Burgess-Taylor made their presence known with a jumpshot and a three-pointer, respectively. Some late scoring by the home team would make DC3 carry a 6-point lead going into the half.
Alpena wouldn't go away that easy, as they pushed the game to within 1, but Rasheed Spratling and Parks would keep the lead as the 2nd half continued. An And-1 by Parks were the last points scored before another few minutes with no scoring, as DC3 led 52-46.
It was fairly back and forth with 10 minutes to go, but Coach's 13 points in the 2nd half kept the Lumberjacks away to secure the victory. Partridge scored 17, while Parks scored 13 in his 2nd start of the season.
Your Lions will conclude the stretch of road games this Friday against Lansing CC, with that contest tipping off at 6pm.
