Lions Lose to Another JUCO Juggernaut

Lions Lose to Another JUCO Juggernaut

In Ephraim, Utah, the Community Christian College Lions found themselves on another end of a big loss against a big-time program. This time, it was #5 Snow College staking their claim over CCC. The Badgers scored their first touchdown a little over 5 minutes into the game, and never looked back. They scored 9 more touchdowns over the course of the evening to win 70-0.

On offense for your Lions, Mekhi Hunt received another start at QB and never got settled in. He was under pressure consistently, having to use his athleticism to escape from the pocket on almost every snap. Although he wasn't able to complete many passes, he's found a favorite receiver in Jamel Thomas, who scored the touchdown in last week's game against #8 Iowa Central. He leads CCC in receiving yards this season, and finished the night with 3 receptions for 53 yards. Malik Munson got some reps in at QB in the 2nd half, and became good buddies with Micale Mcclure, as he received 2 catches on a critical drive that brought them to the red zone.

Early on in the game, Chauncey Freeman had two chances to turn the game on its head, intercepting two passes from Snow QB Donnie Smith in the 1st Quarter. Unfortunately, both of those turnovers were negated by penalties, and the Badgers would score on both of those drives. Star LB Anthony Thomas finished with 12 tackles, while DB Bernard Guillen was the only Lion that registered a pass breakup. On paper, defense has been an issue for CCC, as they've allowed 2 teams to combine for over 1,000 yards, and 126 points. However, it is important to remember that both Iowa Central and Snow College will be in the running for the NJCAA Championship in November, and they're easily the toughest opponents on the schedule for Community Christian this season.

CCC's next game will be at home this Saturday, September 7th against Hocking College at 1pm EST. It's an important matchup for both sides, as the Lions are looking for their first win in program history, while the Hawks haven't won a game since October 29th, 2022. We'll have the coverage live on our YouTube page @CCC Lions, as well as the post-game recap on ccclions.com the following morning.
